Character Creation
1. You may have one unit. A unit is one singles wrestler or a tag team. We're talking a legit team that tags only. A tag team does not compete in singles matches unless it is for angle development. Veterans that we trust can have more than one unit, but only if they are sure they can handle it.
2. Original wrestlers only...There are no exceptions. Only original wrestlers. No real wrestlers and no cheap rip-offs of wrestlers. There will be no exceptions.
3. The Application process takes three phases. Phase 1 is easy. Go to the application and reguster a "Username and Password". Read this rules page, and then proceed to click the "Application" Link. After you register, your application process might take some time. Once you are registered, log into your GZW SuperStar account and edit your profile and/or post promo.
Roleplaying
1. To post a roleplay, simply login to your account area and follow the Roleplay link. Once you have submitted your Roleplay, the RP Director will either accept or reject your RP. Once he has accepted it, it will appear on both your bio page, and the GZW Insider page.
2. We expect one roleplay from you each week in order to be thought of as active. If you have a match, then you should try to do two. Even if you do not have a match, you are expected to do a roleplay. Failure to conform to this rule results in an Official Warning. More on warnings come later.
3. Any profanity must be censored. If you fail to do so, The roleplay will not count for anything.. The exception is words like damn and ass (along with it's variations, like jackass, asshole, etc..). These are fine and need not be censored, but it shouldn't be every other word. Use common sense here. If Stone Cold gets censored, so will you!
4. To get credit for a roleplay, it must mention your next opponent. Even a picture of the wrestler you will face counts. A roleplay that does not mention your opponent(s) directly will be noted, but does not count directly towards your match resolution.
7. Use insider terms like "jobber", "shoot", "angle", etc., rarely. A wrestler should never talk about winners being known beforehand, he must always act like he is really fighting someone. Anything that says otherwise should be subtle. NEVER mention stuff like "roleplays", "handlers", "strats", or other terms of that nature. Never call wrestlers by their handler's real name.
8. Roleplays must be at least 50 words long.
9. Do not use members of the front office or other handler's wrestlers, managers, valets, and characters without permission.
Challenges & Matches
1. In order to get yourself a match, you will need to talk with your booker. We do though allow challenges to other GZW superstars to be made, but all match details must be passed through your fed staff.
2. Avoid arranging gimmick matches. Most GZW matches are normal ones, and we try to steer away from gimmick matches as they devalue the PPVs and Supercards.
3. Non Angled match winners are decided by this formula. 50% Roleplaying, 30% Angles, 20% Attitude. Make sure your roleplay has strategy.
4. Strat deadlines are generally on the thursday before the event. Although these are subject to change, and you will be informed on the forums if there is a different deadline.
5. Sneak attacks must include a reason and are due the same time as roleplays. We cannot promise we will use all run-ins, since there may be more than one angle involved in a match and only so much can happen.
6. Expect if you cost someone a match, for them to be allowed to attack you during your next match in response. This is called the Equal Payback Rule.
7. The invisible hand in booking is your PUSH. Push consists of ranking, cooperation, and participation. Wrestlers who are ranked higher then their opponents will usually have a better chance of winning. Wrestlers who work well with others and are willing to put others over will have better chances of winning. Wrestlers who add things to the league (ideas, extras) will also receive a better PUSH. PUSH can mean everything to your chances of winning. Everyone will be treated fairly with their push, if you work hard and accept things, you will be pushed in accordance to what you have given. Its important to understand that you cannot win them all (no matter if you deserved it that week) because sometimes we have plans that expand more then one week. If you would like to discuss your push, please email the booker.
Championships
1. All titles can only change hands with a pinfall or submission unless otherwise noted. You cannot hand a title to someone else. If you do so the belt becomes vacant. Champions may grant shots to anyone (Even non-contenders), but the GZW Front Office may force him to fight top contenders he may be avoiding.
2. The GZW World Championship is the top belt in the world. The holder is almost always the best wrestler in the federation. Headliners & the top five Superstars are all contenders for this title. Must be defended every month and at every Pay-Per-View.
General Rules
1. The GZW is a booked federation. Winners are decided by quality of roleplays, attitude, and effort. A handler who roleplays even when when he doesn't have a booked match coming up, is more likely to succeed than someone who only roleplays when he has a match booked for that week's show.
2. The GZW's goal is basically to perform as an old school federation. We try our best to mix decent storylines with great wrestling. Just think if you're in question of material that can be used, for example, barbed wire, if the WWE wouldn't do it, neither will we. The rules are still enforced by our officials. A low blow seen by the ref is usually a DQ. You have until the count of ten to get back in the ring and most matches have time limits.
3. The GZW goes for realism, but keeps it family oriented. No guns or knives. There is no rape, racism, or murder. Everyone lives to wrestle the next day. There is no magic or anything fantasy-like. Whatever is done like that, is simply special effects. The worst word you might hear on GZW television is bitch. Homosexuality may be hinted at, but very subtly. Women will not be taking off their tops. Don't like this, plenty of extreme feds around.
4. Act your alignment. Heels (bad guys) do not suck up to the fans, faces (good guys) do not randomly attack people. A face cares about the fans, while a heel hates them. A tweener usually does not care either way what the fans think of him.
5. All deadlines are the day of the show (Thursday Havoc, well, Thursday)
6. All wrestlers, upon contract acceptance, become the intellectual property of the World Wrestling Alliance. If your character leaves the federation, we reserve the right to retain the character to be used to finish an angle and/or wrestle a farewell match. In addition to this rule, there is something called the Showtime clause: Essentially, If you leave, these things happen, and good luck. But if you insist on making a pissy rant prior to your leaving, your character will be seized and paraded around like a complete moron.
Shows, Supercards and Pay Per Views
1. Thursday Night Havoc is the only weekly show produced by the GZW. You will be guaranteed a match at least every other week.
2. 6 Times a year, the GZW holds massive Pay Per View events. . The dates and Pay=Per View titles are published in the PPV Calendar.
3. On the months where we do not have Pay Per Views, we hold Supercard events. These are bigger than your average Havoc, but not quite PPVs. Names and dates are subject to change.
Violations
1. To prevent handlers from thinking they can get away without Roleplaying, a new Warning system has been introduced.
2. It operates on a simple "3 Strike" system. When you get your third warning, it is also your firing.
3. When you receieve a warning, the date gets noted. If within 1 month you haven't received another, the warning is stricken from the record.
4. If you already have a warning, and you receive another, then The month to remove a warning starts again. Therefore, you would have to go 2 months to remove 2 warnings, starting from the date you receive the second warning.
5. A Month is a calender Month. Warnings will be recorded on Monday's. If the warning is recorded on the 12th of January, that warning is removed on the 12th of Februaury.
6. Listed below are what you receive warnings for.
> Failure to submit a roleplay in the Period Monday - Sunday - 1 Warning
> Failure to submit a segment, or generally make poor effort in an angle (At the GZW Staff's Discretion) - 1 Warning
You will be informed of a warning in an email on Monday Nights.
7. If you get fired from this system, you may not reapply to the GZW for 3 months. If after this period you WANT to join the GZW, you must consider whether you are willing to put in the effort that is required to be a part of the GZW. You can apply as either a new character, or your old character.
Posers (Coming Soon)
1. This is the most important rule in this section, DO NOT inquire about your wrestler's poser picture. The people that do this have other work to do as well and don't have the time NOR the energy to deal with people pestering them about the pictures. If you break this rule, you will get put to the back of the line, which means another couple months to wait.
2. Your wrestler(s) will NOT be made a poser until you have served in the GZW for 8 weeks. This is here to simply disuade people from joining the GZW to get a picture. This is NOT open for discussion, if you ask about it, see the rule above.
3. Your poser image is, and will always be property of the GZW. It is not to be used for other federations, even if modified.
